Ahead of the start of the school year, there’s one event that usually gives kids a chance to run out their energy, and church members to compete in field day-style events.
This year, Youth Summerfest 2020 is going to be a lot different. After holding an organizational meeting over the weekend this past Saturday, the 22nd annual Youth Summerfest committee determined for sure that a drive-thru event will be held on Saturday, July 25 as opposed to the traditional giveaway event that includes the opportunity for fun and games, and a cookout for parents and children alike.
Still free, the event will provide a free backpack of school supplies, a sack lunch for participants, and even optional clothing items that are being given away during the day. Donations of supplies are for youth Pre-K to 12th grade, but clothing is available for all ages.
Organizers stated that only 10 people at a time will be allowed to pick out clothing items, and their time will be limited to 10 minutes per person. Social distancing will be observed for all participants during the event.
No Church Olympics are being held this year, and due to the virus no transportation can be provided either.
