The Youth Summerfest returns this year, but it will be a much smaller event compared to the more than two decades it has helped children in need get school supplies before heading back to the classroom.

Organizers are gathering this weekend to continue working on the final details for the 22nd annual Youth Summerfest, coming up on the calendar on Saturday, July 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Courtney Ripoll, who is one of the organizers helping with the 2020 Youth Summerfest, said that instead of the large gathering usually planned annually, the event instead will be drive thru only. Those supplies will be available only to youth Pre-K through 12th grade.

Sack lunches are also planned this year as well, and small amounts of used and sanitized clothing will be available as well.

More information about the upcoming event at the Bert Wood Youth and Athletic Center will be available following this coming weekend’s meeting.
