The Rockmart Yellow Jackets Wrestling squad is looking to repeat their success last season gaining a state title and set a tone in their first time up on the mats this year with a third-place finish for the team at the Alexander Duals over the weekend.

On Saturday, the Jackets traveled to Alexander High School in Douglasville to face off against multiple teams, and went 3-1 against other schools.

The Jackets got the takedown on Class 5A Greenbriar in a 49-22 victory, pinned Class 4A Northwest Whitfield in a 67-12 win, and got the win over Class 6A East Paulding in a 66-12 finish. They fell to Class 3A Gilmer 42-31 for their only team loss on the day.

Jacket wrestlers Gunner Chambers, Malachi Macedonio and Tevin Ware all went 4-0 in matches during the Duals. Izacah Beavers, Bleu Winters, Logan Opdycke, Tyler Malone, and JaKamron Ammons also had wins on the day as well.

Their next match is on the road again when they head to the Bruins Duals to have a chance to face off against Northwest Whitfield again this Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

The Jackets will be in Oxford, Alabama for a Tuesday/Wednesday evening next week on November 23 and 24 ahead of Thanksgiving for the Clint McCall Duals, and then the following Saturday, November 27, are at the Locust Grove Invitational for varsity and JV competition.

Rockmart will host their first matches on December 1 when Haralson County, Adairsville and South Paulding come for a Wednesday evening matchup beginning at 5:30 p.m.
