UPDATE: Cleanup still underway after wreck on 278 upends trash truck this afternoon

Update, March 3:

Georgia State Patrol provided more information this morning on how a tractor trailer hauling a load to the Grady Road Landfill ended in the position it did on Wednesday around lunchtime, according their reports.

Initial findings from the GSP stated the blue Mack Anthem tractor trailer was traveling westbound on Highway 278 on Wednesday at 12:22 p.m. when it drifted off the roadway and onto the north shoulder, then struck a culvert and overturned.

Officers reported the driver – whose name was not released – reported minor injury complaints.

Cleanup took much of the rest of the day to complete due to the way the tractor trailer ended up, with the cab standing straight in the air and the trailer overturned on its left side.

GSP reported that the crash investigation is still underway.
