Groundbreaking event held on campus on Monday
Equal opportunities will be had for theater students across the district as the new Rockmart High School Fine Arts facility is getting going on the eastern side of the county.
Polk School District officials gathered on Monday morning to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new facility being funded by the latest E-SPLOST and match the same facilities built at Cedartown High School in recent years.

PSD posted photos and some brief information about the upcoming construction project, including this from Board Vice Chair Chris Culver: “With the upcoming construction of the RHS Fine Arts building, the taxpayers of Polk County have provided a well paved road for the opportunity for those that want to express their talents and seek the arts as a pathway for their future. Because of each of you, the doors of the RHS Fine Arts building will soon be open.”
The construction of the second Fine Arts facility in Rockmart is just one of the many additions that been built onto the campus over the past decade, including the Agriculture Facility, athletic facilities and a renovation of the CTAE hall into one of the two College and Career Academy campuses in Polk County.
The latest E-SPLOST approved in 2021 extended collections to 2027 and will bring in some $25 million to cover construction projects across the district.

The new facility will be standalone from the rest of the campus. RK Redding Construction – who has handled a number of projects for the county over the past decade – is building the new facility.
