Woman stopped behind wheel of stolen truck over weekend

Cynthia Fowler

A woman who was just arrested back in June for improper use of 911 was back in custody this weekend after she was alleged to have taken a truck, and was stopped behind the wheel on Sardis Road.

Polk County Police arrested 63-year-old Cynthia Fowler of a Taylorsville address late on Sunday afternoon, July 21, after she was spotted behind the wheel of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado that was reported stolen by the owner.

Officers had gotten the report just minutes before they spotted the truck while in the area of Highway 278 and Sardis Road, watching as Fowler left Bellview Road and crossed over onto Sardis Road.

Per the report, police conducted a traffic stop and were able to take Fowler into custody without any incident reported on Sunday just after 5:30 p.m.

The truck was returned to its owner.

Fowler was booked into the Polk County Jail where she remained awaiting a bond hearing on a felony charge of theft by taking. She’s also being held on a failure to appear warrant as well as of this posting.

She was previously arrested in 2023 for an incident where she took a car that was warming up in winter to “go to the store” and was found minutes after it was reported stolen by Rockmart Police.
