A woman who jumped from a hot air balloon in Polk County on Tuesday afternoon was injured and required a Lifeflight to an area hospital, though her injuries were not critical.

Polk County Police Chief Kenny Dodd said a helicopter landed in the area of McCowan Road after the skydiver hit the ground hard, but was not critically injured. The area where she landed required an airlift out due to the difficulty of getting emergency vehicles in. Dodd said because no crime was committed, information on the incident is limited.

He did explain how the incident occurred. According to the account he had available, the woman came down hard after avoiding power lines near the landing zone where she and a skydiving partner were jumping at the time from the balloon.
