Where to watch the fireworks shows in 2020

It’s almost time for the glorious fourth, and that means fireworks displays will be happening around the area. Here’s a rundown of where you can go on the evening of July 4th to find a fireworks display.

Cartersville: Finding out more about their city’s official plans, but here’s one that I think families will enjoy: Oakland Heights Baptist Church is hosting a Fourth of July celebration starting at 7 p.m. with inflatables, food, a guest speaker and fireworks to cap off the night. Located at 16 Highland Way, Cartersville.

Cave Spring: They usually have their fireworks before July 4, but this year they’ve been postponed to August 29 at 9 p.m.

Dalton: Fireworks will be shot off at Heritage Point Park with a celebration starting at 9:30 p.m., and wrapping up by 10:30. Social distancing will be in place for those attending, no other activities are planned. Weather hotline: 706-281-1323.

Rome: The 2020 Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Redmond is being shot off Jackson Hill to allow people all around the area to view them without having to leave home. Q102 FM is acting as the soundtrack, and the display begins at 9:50 p.m. There will be no organized July 4th activities in Ridge Ferry Park this year. The park will be closed to vehicular traffic but open to foot traffic.

Tallapoosa: Though technically not fireworks, Haralson County veterans are hosting a memorial and parade starting at 10 a.m., with the parade to follow at 1 p.m. on July 4.

Note: Carrollton’s fireworks display has been postponed until November to celebrate Veteran’s Day.
