Cedartown’s West Cinema has been closed for several months due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but the marquee is finally lighting back up and the screens will be playing movies again, with plans for a newer title and a classic.
Opening night is June 3 at 7 p.m. with only the larger theaters open for staggered seating as West Cinema presents “Trolls World Tour” and the 1975 blockbuster “Jaws,” with the same showings on June 4.
West Cinema owner said that he is planning for just one show per night “to see how things get back in.”
He added that there are plans in the works to replace the front posters with digital signage, and to provide online purchasing of tickets through Fandango. His goal is to keep within social distancing guidelines and provide assigned seating, and online ticket purchases will allow the theater to block off seats automatically and prevent issues from cropping up on opening night.
Additional information about opening night ticket sales will be forthcoming ahead of the July 4th weekend.
“There are several things we’re working on right now to ensure that we open up back safely,” Tinney said.
West Cinema was one of many businesses forced to close in March and remained that way through orders from Governor Brian Kemp due to the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on gatherings in enclosed spaces like movie theaters, concert venues, bars and more.
