Multiple counties including Polk are expecting some heavy weather this morning as the National Weather Service put Polk and other counties under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch this morning until 11 a.m.

Forecasters from Peachtree City stated that a cold front is pushing a line of scattered thunderstorms along a line that will impact North and Central Georgia this morning and potentially into the early evening hours for other counties. The showers are moving into Northwest Georgia first, and meteorologists predict that there’s a potential for heavy rains and damaging winds, as well as large hail.

Whereas the day started warm, expect temperatures to drop quickly by the afternoon hours, and settle at 61 degrees by 5 p.m.

A low of 37 is expected overnight, with clear skies expected for Monday and a high of 66. More rain threats return on Tuesday afternoon.

Check back in for more updates on severe weather if needed.
