Early voting is now underway at the Cedartown and Rockmart precincts for the week ahead of run-off elections to determine who will be serving in new terms in County Commission seats.
Voters who previously participated in the GOP primary can head back to the polls until 5:30 p.m. today, and during business hours through the rest of the week to decide the District 1 and District 3 County Commission races on the ballot this year.
The races feature incumbent appointee Jordan Hubbard facing challenger Michael Gravett in the District 1 race, and incumbent Ray Carter against challenger John Paschal in the two races locally.
The pair of races are the only two being decided locally, while the Democratic ballot is seeking to settle who will face GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene this fall for the general election in November.
Those who want to get to the polls before Primary Runoff Day can go to the polls through Friday, June 14, at both precincts in Cedartown and Rockmart. Voters can cast a ballot from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 14 for an extended day.
Voters in the runoff will want to note that when they cast their ballot, they must have already voted in the primary. Election officials provided the following examples to determine which ballot you can choose:
For example, if you voted a republican ballot in the May 21st General Primary Election, you may only vote on a republican ballot in the June 18th Runoff Election. Additionally, if you voted a democratic ballot in the May 21st General Primary Election, you may only vote on a democratic ballot in the June 18th Runoff Election.
If you did not vote at all or you voted a nonpartisan ballot in the May 21st General Primary Election, you may vote in either the republican or democratic June 18th Runoff election.
Early Voting will be available at both the Goodyear Civic Center located at 108 Prior Street Cedartown, GA. 30125 and the Rockmart Community Center located at 604 Goodyear Avenue Rockmart, Ga. 30153.
