A man was charged by Polk County Police for a late November shooting incident, and deputies caught up with him in recent days for an arrest.

Eriberto Vargas, 27, of a Rome address, was a suspect involved a Nov. 30, 2024 shooting on Potash Road. He was tracked down earlier this week and remains in custody on multiple felony charges.

He is facing charges of Possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; manufacture, deliver, distribute, administer, sell, possess with intent to distribute controlled substance; trafficking in cocaine, illegal drugs, marijuana or methamphetamine and possession of firearm or knife during commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies.

Vargas was denied bond. He was booked into custody on January 1.

Polk County Police were still investigating the shooting incident in late November after a victim was shot, but later treated and released from the hospital. No further details were immediately available.

A second individual, Ricardo Guzman, was also charged in the incident not long after but later released on a $30,000 bond.
