The City of Aragon confirmed this morning that Chief Brad Loyd is back to work, and another APD officer has been terminated this morning.

Aragon Mayor Debbie Pittman said that an investigation that was undertaken by the Rome Police Department is concluded, and that Loyd was reinstated to his role as Police Chief of the city department as of this morning.

Pittman said the city is waiting for a required 10 day period before releasing the results of that investigation.

She also confirmed that Paul Mazzuca, who was serving as active chief and had been chief previously under former Mayor Garry Baldwin was also terminated this morning after a meeting with Loyd.

She said the city will provide further comment on the personnel change if possible.

Mazzuca alongside his police duties had been working toward reestablishing the Aragon Fire Department, including his work to get several equipment donations to the city for that use, including the return of the city’s fire truck.

Loyd was suspended with pay during the investigation.
