Turner Street Park Town Hall coming up this evening

Cedartown officials want to hear from the community during an hour-long session at City Hall and get ideas for the future of Turner Street Park starting at 5 p.m. this evening.

The new Turner Street Center is set to open later this month (see additional coverage this morning) with plans in the work for a big celebration, but before getting into the ribbon cutting and festivities for the community, the city wants to look forward to next steps.

The town hall session is set to last around an hour in the commissioner’s meeting room, City Manager Edward Guzman said.

His hopes the session will provide an opportunity for brainstorming about what the community would like to see developed in the park in the near and long term. The goal is to be able to figure out funding opportunities to match what concepts are brought about from neighbors of the park and those who use it regularly.

Turner Street Center underwent a complete replacement totaling more than $650,000 of construction work invested by the city over the past year.

The park was hoped to open earlier this summer for the Community Reunion, but wasn’t quite done in time for the big block party in June.

Check back for additional details as they become available.
