The West Cinema holding poster sale on Feb. 20, now hosting church on Wednesdays and Sundays

Want to get an opportunity to own pieces of movie memorabilia? The West Cinema is giving you that chance coming up.

On Feb. 20, the downtown Cedartown theater is holding a poster sale from the collection of movie advertisements collected throughout the years and previously used to promote new features coming out.

Last year, owner Michael Tinney replaced the old poster cases on the outside front walls of the theater with boxes that hold screens to promote movies that are coming soon, or currently in one of the four theaters within.

The theater’s Facebook page announced the sale on Tuesday.

It’ll be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 20.

This note was also added in the announcement:

“We Do NOT know what we have yet, we will be sorting through next week! Please come see us and support your hometown theater! Please note: this will be a cash only sale!”

The theater isn’t closed by any means, but hasn’t been showing movies for a while since no new movies have been released during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This year has been tough on us and with not a lot of films coming out and a lot of unrealistic terms on the few that are out it just is not feasible for us to be open right now. We do plan on bringing in movies again but it isn’t the right time!” per a Facebook post on added on Monday prior to the poster sale announcement. “So if you hear anyone say we are closed for good please, tell them otherwise! Also, when we do open back we will need ALL the community’s support! If it’s coming to see a movie, stopping in for a popcorn, or sharing out our posts we need everyone’s help to bounce back from a year like this. If you would be sad to see the west close, make sure you support us however you can, it will be the only way we can stay afloat!”
