Want to express your opinion on whether there should be more early voting sites? Want to remark on how the Board of Elections is doing with the vote locally?
There’s a survey being conducted currently by elections officials in Polk County to help determine what voters want, how they get their information and whether the BoE should expand opportunities to cast a ballot early, among other items.
The short questionnaire takes only a couple of minutes to complete, and is completely anonymous.
Elections Coordinator Brande Coggins asked the public to consider filling out the information to help provide some indication of voter preference moving forward after the 2020 election.
The goal is to continue to make it easier for voters to cast a ballot, and to increase participation and voter registration in the county. More than 17,000 out of the 25,000+ voters registered in the county participated in the November election, with much less than that taking part afterward in runoffs locally in early December, and then again last month for the Senate seats.
“We’re hoping that with the results of this survey that we’re able to better understand what voters want and how we can accommodate those who want to participate, but haven’t been able to do so,” Coggins said.
Check back for more on the results of the survey and how the Board of Elections plans to move forward based on the results.
