Mr. Stanley Bernard Gorman

Mr. Stanley Bernard Gorman, age 87, of Cedartown, GA, passed away Tuesday June 18, 2024, at his residence, with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Gorman was born in Cedartown on March 30, 1937 to the late Major Cyrus Gorman and the late Mrs. Paula Florine Bigger.

A 1955 graduate of Cedartown High School, Mr. Gorman spent much of his adult life as a Georgia State Patrol Trooper, retiring after 25 dedicated years of professional service. As a State Trooper, he had many areas of expertise, but his primary role was in Accident Reconstruction, an area he excelled at beyond measure.

His final professional assignment was as Lieutenant of training and recruitment classes. Mr. Gorman was also a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown, as well as an active member of the Polk County Cattleman’s Association and the Retired Trooper Association.

After his retirement, Mr. Gorman spent much of his time outdoors enjoying life. Nothing brought him more joy, though, than spending time with his loving family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Gorman is preceded in death by his loving wife, Karen Gorman; son, Timothy Lass; son-in-law, Richard Smith; and a grandchild, Audrey York.

Mr. Gorman is survived by his loving children, Tracy Wiese (Chris), Paulette Smith, Julie Shuman (Alan), and Elizabeth Lowery (Rick); sister, Nancy Floyd; grandchildren, Jason Shuman, April Hunter (Scott), Kevin York, Clint Ramey, Mikaelynn Brumit (Kevin); many great- and great-great grandchildren; and his loving Georgia State Patrol family.

Memorial services for Mr. Gorman will be conducted Saturday June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of the Lester C. Litesey Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Northview Cemetery of Cedartown. The family will receive friends Saturday June 29 from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 11:00 AM at Litesey Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Polk Women’s Shelter at P.O. Box 1647 Cedartown, GA 30125.
