Fields just past the turn toward Highway 100 South on Prior Station Road were busy this past Sunday with teams facing off against one another on the pitch in soccer matches held in Cedartown as part of a tournament that continues this coming weekend and the following.
Polk County and Cedartown faced off against one another in the opener on Sunday with a 6-2 finish going in favor of the county, while Rome and Floyd County club teams played and Floyd came out on top with a 3-0 win over the Rome City team.
Now teams will flip opponents in the next round of the tournament coming up this Sunday. Cedartown’s club takes on Floyd County, and Polk County will play the Rome squad.
The first match kicks off at 12:30 p.m. A $5 entry fee is charged per vehicle.
