Polk County Sheriff Johnny Moats is staying home for the next two weeks after he learned today that he was exposed to COVID-19.
Moats said that he was doing so as a precautionary measure to ensure if he is sick that he doesn’t spread the virus further. He was supposed to be discussing budget issue with County Commissioners during their work session tonight, and was instead represented by Chief Deupty Jonathan Blackmon.
“I feel fine and I want to make sure if I have it, I don’t spread it to anyone,” Moats said by text this evening.
He was exposed by recent contact with a family member who doesn’t live at home with him.
COVID-19 cases in Polk stood at 233 today, down a case after a Sunday figure of 234 was reported by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
