There’s a chance for thunderstorms to turn tornadic tonight as severe weather is heading toward Polk County, per the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
NWS Peachtree City is expecting a line of thunderstorms to begin impacting Polk County and North and Central Georgia this evening sometime after 7 p.m. as they travel into the area from the Mississippi Valley and Alabama.
These storms could produce high winds, hail and tornadoes, per the hazardous weather outlook. The line of severe weather will move through the area by Wednesday morning as a cold front passes through.
After the cold front passes, the forecast calls for a major dip in the temperature. Frost is possible in Polk from Thursday through Saturday, when the thermometer is going to dip down in the 30s overnight after the front pushes through with cooler air moving in from the north.
Look for springlike temperatures to return on Sunday, with highs in the low 70s ahead, and in the upper 40s overnight.
