Polk County Police are asking for the public to help provide additional information that may lead to an arrest following a second report of gunshots fired in the Cedartown area overnight.
The PCPD provided the following press release about the incident:
On September 2, 2020 at approximately 3:55 a.m., Patrol Officers with the Uniformed Patrol Division were dispatched to the area of Cherokee Circle in reference to a report of shots fired. Initial reports by the caller stated that there were approximately thirty shots that were fired at the caller’s residence. Patrol Officers arrived around 4 a.m. to the area of the incident.
Upon the arrival of Patrol Officers, the reporting party was checked for injuries. No injuries were reported to either party. At the time, Patrol Officers secured the scene, and requested for the Criminal Investigations Division to respond to the incident location. Shortly thereafter, the scene was released to investigators.
Upon completing the processing of the scene, numerous shell casings were located in the street in front of the residence. At this time, there is limited information on this incident (as far as motive for the crime). Investigators are working diligently on this case, and are requesting assistance from the public.
Detectives are requesting anyone who lives in the area of Cherokee Circle, as well as anyone in the area of North College Drive / Cherokee Circle who has surveillance cameras at their residence, to please contact Detective Caleb Bowman (#810) at (678) 246-5107 or at cbowman@polkga.org.

The incident on Cherokee Circle was the second time shots were fired in the past 24 hours in the Cedartown area. A man was shot and airlifted for treatment to an area hospital on Vines Street on Tuesday evening as well.
