Sarah Elizabeth Hall McHan

Elizabeth McHan, age 90 of Cedartown passed away on January 26, 2024. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to many.

The main focus of her life was her faith, her family, and her friends. She was always willing to help others in their times of need and will be missed by many.

She was born in Whitfield County, Georgia on December 15, 1933 and made Cedartown her home in January of 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Irene Hall, her brothers and sisters in law, Wayne and Marie Hall and Jack and Barbara Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joel and her son Byron.

She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Alan and Laurie McHan, and her daughter Melanie Meaders. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abby McHan, Matt McHan, Anna McHan, and Griffin Meaders.

She was a retired employee of the Polk School District and a member of Cedartown First Baptist. She loved to bake cookies with her grandchildren and her “apple stack cake” for her family and her friends. She enjoyed listening to gospel music, and traveling and playing cards with the “blue hair mafia.” She never turned down an opportunity to spend time with her family and became an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Upon retirement, she volunteered and served her church and community in several ways, from working the polls on election days, playing piano for childrens’ choirs at church, and helping out at the Samaritan House. Although she will be missed, she is reunited with her beloved family members that have gone before her and is in a much better place where her sickness has been defeated.
