Two races wrapped up this evening in Polk County as all the numbers were tallied, and a new Probate Court Judge will be taking over in January with a slim majority.
Former District Attorney and local lawyer Bobby Brooks will be taking over as the new Probate Court Judge come January 1.
He won the race by a slim majority of 5,835 votes to 5,565 for Judge Shayne Green, who was appointed back in July after the retirement of Judge Tony Brazier.
Brooks and Green made it to the runoff after a three-candidate special election which included Mike Sullivan.
Voters also returned to the polls in Polk County to help decide the U.S. Senate race in Georgia. Hershel Walker won the county by a wide majority with the numbers ending up at 9,497-2,470.
Statewide, the race remained a dead heat with 110 of the 159 counties reporting. Walker held a very narrow lead of 1,295,894-1,295,722 over Warnock as of this posting.
Runoff results though tallied this evening after a full day of casting ballots and last week’s early voting period won’t be official until the Board of Elections certifies the results during a meeting later this week.
