Rockmart Riverwalk Festival on the Euharlee called off for 2020

In the latest round of fall events to be pulled from the schedule, the Rockmart Riverwalk Festival on the Euharlee announced that the 2020 event will have to wait for the following year to take place.

Organizers from the City of Rockmart announced their plans this past Friday to call off the annual event in downtown Rockmart along Euharlee Creek that had been planned for October.

A date of October 2, 2021 has already been announced for the follow-up to this year’s event called off late last week.

COVID-19 has already forced the cancellation of two major events on the calendar for Polk County: the 2020 Homespun Festival and the Polk County Fair.

City officials cited the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued limitations on social distancing and gathering as main influences in cancelling this year’s event in their release.

“This decision was made after consultation with local official and an extensive review of the state and CDC guidelines,” the release on Facebook stated. “The health and well-being of all involved, including vendors, guests and citizens was the primary concern in our decision-making process.”

Organizers also thanked the public for their understanding over the cancellation decision. Refunds for vendors who had already paid to participate in the festival will be provided “as soon as possible.”

Those who have additional questions about participating in the 2021 festival can contact Jeri Purdy at trailhead@rockmart-ga.gov.
