Detective Frank Golden didn’t waste any time when he got promoted and into the rotation in recent days.

In fact, he caught his first case for the Rockmart Police Department over the weekend and had an arrest made by Tuesday in the incident that involved a sexual assault within the city limits.

Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner shared those details during a ceremony honoring Det. Golden’s promotion to investigations. Chief Turner said that after interviews and tests, Golden earned his new job in the department.

“And in true Frank fashion, his first weekend on call he received a pretty serious crime – a sexual assault investigation,” Turner said. “And today (Tuesday) he was able to make an arrest on that. Several felony charges with a pretty serious offender in jail during his first week on duty.”

Golden was joined by his family for the ceremony as he got a handshake from the Mayor and a round of applause from the audience after Turner spoke out about his fast work on a serious case in his opening days as a detective.

Though Rockmart Police didn’t have a new badge to pin to his uniform during the meeting on Tuesday night, Turner promised one soon.
