Rockmart PD announces a new partnership to help people save money when pulled over for equipment issues

The Rockmart Police Department is now working with a local auto parts store to help drivers save a buck after being pulled over for an equipment violation if they take it to get fixed immediately.

If a driver is pulled over by the Rockmart Police and they only have a blinker light out or something else wrong with the car that can easily be repaired following a traffic stop, they’ll receive a warning and can now use that slip of paper to earn money off at a local auto parts store.

From the Rockmart PD:

Important information about our new “Car Care program”.

Sgt. Jimmy Parker has formed an alliance with Apco Auto parts located on 101 and Auto Zone located on Etowah Drive. Together, we will launch this program to help our citizens who get stopped by the police for an equipment violation only. If you get pulled over by a Rockmart Police Officer and the only offense is defective equipment on your vehicle where the part can be purchased and corrected, you will be given a warning, not a ticket. If you take this warning to the parts stores listed above, they have agreed to give you a 10% discount to correct the issue.

This only applies if that is the only violation. We understand that people may not be aware of lights out on the rear of the vehicle. We know that headlights can be expensive to replace. We also know that if someone is having a hard time purchasing items to repair a car, a ticket can only delay them in making repairs and can hurt their budget even more. Our goal is not to make money and it is not to hinder citizens who may not even be aware of an issue until they get stopped.

We are thankful for our great officers who look for ways to help our citizens. We are also blessed with great businesses who are willing to partner with us to make our roads safer while saving people money instead of costing them more money.

As we stated above, it has to be the only violation. If you get pulled over for an equipment violation and you have warrants, suspended license or DUI, there will be no warning and no discount at the store as you shouldn’t have been driving to start with.
