A pastor serving in South Carolina who hails from right here in Polk County will be serving starting in November 2021 the people of his state as the President of their Baptist Convention.
Wayne Bray, a native of Rockmart, is to be congratulated for being the President-Elect for the South Carolina Baptist Convention when his term starts next November, to serve through the year of 2022.
Bray is the senior pastor for First Baptist Simpsonville. The church has three campuses in the area.
He previously served at Beulah Church in Douglasville, and studied at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Executive Education, as well as Biola University, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, Columbia International Unveristy and Liberty University.
He and his wife Amy and family now reside in Simpsonville, South Carolina, in the suburbs of Greenville, South Carolina.
Bray’s term will begin when sitting President of the South Carolina Baptist Convention Alex Sands serves out his term this year. Sands is the first African American pastor to serve in the Baptist Convention’s leadership role, now in its 200th year.
