Kevin Dean Jackson

A Rockmart man remained in jail on multiple charges after he was reported by Polk County Police to threaten his neighbors, then brandished a broom handle at officers before falling down porch stairs and being taken into custody.

Police were dispatched to a Crayton Street address in Rockmart on Sunday, February 28 after 3 a.m. where they found neighbors who claimed that Kevin Dean Jackson, 47, of 51 Crayton Street was “shouting and threatening her and her family and attempting to fight her husband.”

When officers approached Jackson’s residence, they were greeted with the man carrying a broom handle. He was asked to drop it and come outside, but refused and when officers tried to detain him in the doorway, he fell down the steps leading out into the yard.

Police took him into custody and charged him with two counts of disorderly conduct, two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officers and five counts of simple assault.

He was booked into the Polk County Jail where he remained without bond set on the misdemeanor charges.
