New students who are starting their journey at Rockmart High School are being asked to come in different sessions to ensure that the potential for the transmission of COVID-19 remains low ahead of the start of the school year.

Rockmart High School posted online that their ninth grade open house sessions will begin on July 28 and continue through July 31 to allow for social distancing guidelines to be practiced ahead of the planned Aug. 3 start of school.

• The following arrangement has been made to accommodate the ninth grade class coming in, and give parents the opportunity to participate as well:
• For students with a last name that begins with the letters A through C, Open House at Rockmart High will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.
• Students with the last names beginning with the letters D through J have their Open House on Wednesday, July 29 from 2 to 3 p.m.
• Last names that begin with the Letters K through R are heading to Open House on Thursday, July 30 from 2 to 3 p.m.
• The fourth day of open house on Friday, July 31 from 2 to 3 p.m. will cover students with the last names S through Z.

Parents and students are encouraged to wear masks during the Open House sessions, but they are not required. The final session will occur the Friday just before the return to school on August 3 for students.
