The Rockmart Farmers Market is having their Season Opener for the summer tomorrow afternoon, Thursday, May 6 from 2 to 6 p.m.

The Farmers Market, which is open mostly year-round except during the holiday season, is shifting from their regular hours to extended hours for the summertime.

Melinda King, who heads up the weekly event in downtown Rockmart next to the Silver Comet Trailhead on Waters Street, said that a variety of products are available for customers to come grab, and SNAP dollars can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables with a dollar-for-dollar match.

“Currently we have 14 vendors but more are scheduled to join us through the Summer,” she said.

The market also features a variety of body products, meat and poultry products, and baked and canned goods among other offerings.

During the holiday season, local arts and crafts are featured in November and December.
