Rockmart City Council set to approve FY 2025 budget on Thursday

The Rockmart City Council is in session on Thursday to take care of some business just before the start of the new fiscal year.

City Council members are gathering on Thursday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. to decide on the final figures for the FY 2025 budget, the capital budget for the coming fiscal year, along with lease purchase agreements and to approve an FY 2024 employee retention bonus.

The bonuses will be applied as the fiscal year closes to employees paychecks in July.

The city is also coming back up on a topic under discussion in years past. Mayor Sherman Ross wishes to return to a discussion with the County over the creation of a land bank that the cities and county can utilize for development purposes.

The county has to put through the motions to create the land bank under state law, and Ross is seeking approval from the council to restart those discussions with the county after it was proposed several years ago.
