A former Rockmart High School student who chose to serve his country before completing his education is now on his way to earning a degree, and won’t have to pay for it.

Congratulations goes out to Trace Forsyth, an RHS alum from the Class of 2014.

Here’s the full story posted on the Polk School District Facebook page:

Join us in congratulating Trace Forsyth, a 2014 Rockmart High School graduate. Trace was admitted to Wesleyan University and selected as a Veterans Posse Foundation scholarship recipient. The Posse Veteran Scholars Program identifies talented veterans with leadership potential interested in pursuing bachelor’s degrees, and places them at top tier colleges and universities.

Selected veteran Scholars are placed in “posses” of 10 that attend the same school together and are guaranteed four years of full tuition in addition to room, board and other college or university fees.

Trace served in the U.S. Army for four years as an Intelligence Specialist and has been attending UMass Boston. He will transfer to Wesleyan this fall to complete his Undergraduate studies.

Thank you for your service, Trace. We are #PSDproud of you and can’t wait to see what your future holds!
