A man who had his Jeep stolen ultimately got it returned to him after he did some legwork online and setup a sting with the woman accused of taking it, according to Polk County Police reports.

Shaina Kay Garner, 39, of a Rockmart address, was arrested in Dallas and transported back to Polk County from Paulding County on Monday afternoon when Paulding County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended her with the stolen Jeep in the parking lot of a Walmart where a sale was supposed to take place.

Per reports, the owner explained that he had contacted Rockmart Police about the stolen Jeep, but Polk County Police got involved when the owner flagged down an officer at the Vinson Mountain Trailhead and explained the situation.

He’d tracked down his 2002 Jeep Wrangler on Facebook Marketplace for sale for $6,000, with the seller asking to meet in Dallas on Monday afternoon. Garner has also talked to others about selling the Jeep, claiming she needed the money for a move to Pensacola, Florida.

Instead, Garner was taken into custody and transported back to Polk County where she faces charges of theft by taking, theft by receiving and criminal attempt to commit a felony – all felony charges.

Garner remained in custody as of this posting without bond set at the Polk County Jail.
