REPORT: Woman found on railroad tracks claims she was struck, burned by “friend” during incident

A Cedartown man was jailed on multiple charges including felony aggravated assault after he was accused of striking and burning a woman who was previously his friend, according to Polk County Police reports.

Eddie Lyvon McCluskey, 31, of a Cedartown area address, was arrested by officers after being tracked with a K-9 dog for more than two miles on railroad tracks in the Aragon area running parallel to Highway 101 on the evening of Friday, August 11.

Police found the victim first just after 5:15 p.m. on the tracks when a report came in from a church that the woman and McCluskey were being suspicious around the back of the church.

Police found the woman, who claimed that McCluskey had hit her in the ribcage, burned her with a propane blow torch, then threw the torch at her and bruised her shin.

He additionally “broke and bent her iPhone” before the assault happened. The victim alleged that she had been longtime friends with McCluskey, but a jealous partner had threatened to assault her for being around McCluskey. The assault happened because as the victim alleged, she was unable to complete a call for McCluskey at the time.

AdventHealth Redmond EMS were called out to the scene to determine the extent of the victim’s injuries, and she was transported to Floyd Medical Center in Rome for further care.

Police got K-9 Genna out and a search was undertaken after the victim pointed in the direction he had begun to walk. Officers got on his trail, and around two miles down the track they found McCluskey and he was taken into custody without further incident.

While being searched during his arrest, police found a blue rag wrapped up and secured by a hair tie that was hiding a meth pipe inside. He was taken off the tracks and onward to the Polk County Jail without any further incident.

McCluskey remained in jail with a $10,000 bond set on felony charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property – 2nd degree, as well as misdemeanor charges of battery, intruding on railroad tracks and possession and use of drug related objects.
