

An early Friday morning chase ended with two in custody and police recovering a purse tossed from the window during the incident that was found to have drugs inside, according to Polk County Police reports.
Mitchell Nora Bryan, 23, of 2565 Cartersville Hwy. #13, Rockmart, and Ashley Nicole Proctor, 33, of 3404 Vinson Mountain Road, Rockmart, were both taken into custody after getting into a short chase with officers around 2:15 a.m., and stopped finally after going down School House Road.
An officer attempted to pull the pair over on Pleasant Hill Road when he spotted them “speed off in a reckless manner” and drive on the wrong side of the road.
When police tried to pull them over, the officer noted that they failed to stop and that an “item was thrown out the window.”
When Bryan and Proctor finally stopped on School House Road, Bryan was immediately taken into custody. Officers asked why they didn’t stop, and he told officers that he was driving on a suspended license and was nervous because of his license status.
Other officers arrived and detained Proctor, and a Rockmart Police officer with their K-9 was brought into give the vehicle a sniff, but found nothing. Then a Rockmart officer on the scene went back out and found the purse tossed from the window.
“While searching the abandoned bag suspected illegal pills/items were located inside the purse,” the report stated.
The two were taken to the Polk County Jail without further incident.
Mitchell was released on a $4,680 bond on misdemeanor charges of fleeing/attempting to elude police, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving and driving while license suspended or revoked.
Proctor was being held after her bond was denied on felony charges of Possession of a Schedule I and Schedule II controlled substance, and tampering with evidence along with misdemeanor charges of littering, obstructing law enforcement officers, and license: permit unlicensed person to drive.
Per previous jail reports, Proctor was previously been held on a $15,000 bond for a late July incident that involved felony and misdemeanor drug charges and had been released on a $15,000 bond.
