Polk County Police broke up a party happening in the middle of the road outside of Cedartown over the weekend, and one of the teens remains in custody on several charges, according to reports.
Javaris Jermaine Dyer, 18, of a Cedartown address, was taken into custody on multiple charges after the group was found in several vehicles blocking the roadway around 9:12 p.m. on Santa Claus Road past John Redding Road.
Per the report, the teens were separated by age, but one was moving behind vehicles and going from group to group. Police ordered him out, and he was found to have “the strong odor of marijuana coming from his person, the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and saw a bulge coming from his pocket.”
Police searched him and found Dyer had just over 20 grams of marijuana, or around three-quarters of an ounce in his pocket.
While being searched, he tried to run but “ran face first into a truck that was parked beside him.” He was then taken into custody.
Dyer initially told police he was a different name and age, but another individual on scene gave officers his real name. Police had EMS check Dyer out, but he refused any treatment.
The rest of the teens were allowed to leave safely with a “sober driver,” per the report.
Dyer was still in custody as of this posting awaiting bond to be set on misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana less than an ounce; giving false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer; underage possession of alcohol and two counts of obstructing law enforcement officers.
