
A Rockmart-area teen was jailed over the weekend after he was found early Sunday morning lying in the middle of Pine Mountain Road passed out and was later arrested for drug possession and other misdemeanors, per Polk County Police reports.
Officers arrested Stephen Luke Anderson, 18, of a Rockmart address, was booked into the Polk County Jail after being arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Anderson was found passed out by a man who “thought he was dead because he would not initially respond” when he found the teen in the middle of a blind curve on Pine Mountain Road.
When police arrived after local Fire and EMS personnel, they found Anderson awake and standing up, but he was likely under the influence of some kind of drug, but he told police he hadn’t been drinking.
He did have a partially smoked joint behind his ear, which police took along with a bag of marijuana he admitted having in his pocket. Police also found a single gabapentin tablet on his person. Officers destroyed the marijuana on scene.
Anderson was booked into the Polk County Jail without further incident and charged with misdemeanors for sale, manufacture, deliver or possess dangerous drugs, drugs not in original container and pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Bond hadn’t been set as of this posting.
