REPORT: Man facing multiple cruelty to animal charges after weekend incident

A Cedartown man was jailed over the weekend after an incident on Saturday saw him facing multiple misdemeanor charges for public drunkenness and cruelty to animals by the Cedartown Police.

Officials reported that Angel Mazariegos, 38, of a Cedartown address, was arrested on Saturday evening, July 13 just after 6 p.m. when he was accused of getting intoxicated, and while under the influence kicking a litter of 10 puppies off the front porch of a residence.

Cedartown Police reported the dogs were not seriously injured.

Mazariegos faces a count for each pup for cruelty to animals, and a public drunkenness charge. All are misdemeanors charges.

Per information from the Polk County Jail, Mazariegos remains in custody as of this posting awaiting bond to be set.
