REPORT: Man charged with battery after striking victim, fleeing scene

William Isaac Howell

Cedartown Police arrested a man on a battery charge after he was alleged to have struck a woman and left her and others behind in his truck on Sunday, according to reports.

Officers arrested William Isaac Howell, 41, of a Cedartown address, after he was located by Polk County Police after the victim and witnesses alleged he fled the scene at the Crown Inn.

The victim told police she was struck by Howell, and repeated his name several times. Witnesses at the motel told officers they had heard the commotion and then saw came out to see the victim struck and bleeding in the parking lot, and Howell’s red 2022 Ford F-150 fleeing from the motel.

Howell denied the allegations when speaking with Cedartown Police while at the Polk County Jail, claiming they were in the middle of an argument about their relationship status and he told the victim to get out, and she refused. Howell told police that the victim then “opened the door and jumped while he was leaving” the Crown Inn.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.

Bond had not yet been set for the single misdemeanor charge of battery, so he remained in jail at the time of this posting.
