A Cedartown man was arrested for a DUI on Tuesday morning after he was reported to have ran a woman off the road and struck her mirror, according to reports.
Children were in the car that Joseph B. Redding, 34, of a Cedartown address, forced off the roadway when he was alleged to have swerved into oncoming traffic and struck the mirror of a vehicle coming down Davis Road toward Highway 27 near the intersection of Pine Pitch Road.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Police noted that when they began questioning both parties, Redding admitted that he had drank a fifth of tequila just hours before, along with smoking marijuana, methamphetamine and having taken Adderall. He told police he was trying to turn around in a driveway during the incident.
The report also noted Redding’s appearance: no shoes, one sock, his clothing was dirty and he was sweating during their investigation of the incident.
Police took Redding into custody and first took him to Atrium Health Floyd Polk Medical Center to have his blood drawn, then onward to jail where he was charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.
Redding remains in jail with a $3,000 bond set as of this posting.
