A woman who claimed she was going to make payments for a car ultimately was jailed after the vehicle was used during a stabbing incident and it was reported stolen to Polk County Police.
Donna Summerville Robinson, 48, was booked into custody on Tuesday, June 18, on a single charge of theft by conversion.
Robinson was released on Tuesday on a $1,000 bond on the misdemeanor charge.
Her charges stemmed from a vehicle she was supposed to be purchasing turned out to be used by a man to drive around before he committed a stabbing at the beginning of the month.
Per the report, the owner was selling the 1999 Nissan Pathfinder to Robinson, who had already given over $150 for the vehicle as a first payment, and claimed she was going to make more. Robinson then told the owner days later she “didn’t want the vehicle anymore” and claimed to have left the Pathfinder at the end of her driveway for the owner to come and pick up.
PCPD began to track down the vehicle and learned that Cedartown Police found it on June 3 at the stabbing scene, used by suspect Thomas David Messick to arrive at a Brooks Street address but fled the scene on foot.
The vehicle’s tag was also used on a different vehicle, later found to be driving around Rome at the time.
