A Jacksonville, Alabama man remains in the Polk County Jail with no bond set after he was found in a car around 4 a.m. on Saturday in a secluded location with a minor, according to Rockmart Police reports.

Cody Sean Compton, 19, of 411 2nd St. NE, Jacksonville, Alabama, remained in custody on felony and misdemeanor charges after a Polk County 911 call from a concerned passerby gave Rockmart Police a reason to find Compton and a 15-year-old girl in a secluded spot in the area around the Silver Comet Trail in Rockmart.

An officer found the vehicle, and watched as Compton quickly jumped from the backseat where he was with the 15-year-old to the driver’s seat in the incident that occurred in the early morning hours of June 5.

The officer briefly questioned Compton and then asked the 15-year-old to step out of the vehicle and talk. The report stated the girl said nothing happened between herself and Compton, and they were only “talking.” The officer became suspicious when the girl and Compton were unable to explain why they were in the backseat instead of the front at the time.

Rockmart Police called the girl’s mother and she arrived not long after and allowed officers to take custody of the girl’s phone. Compton’s phone was also taken.

Detectives later questioned the pair and continued the investigation after Compton was taken into custody without incident.

Per information from Rockmart Police, the meeting between the girl and Compton was pre-planned, and though he knew her age their plans had been more than to “talk” during their early morning meetup.

Compton was charged with a felony for enticing a child for indecent purposes, and misdemeanors for loitering or prowling and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He remained in the Polk County Jail with no bail set.
