Election 2020

REMINDER: Questions being sought for Chamber virtual forum coming up on Thursday, deadline is Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Tomorrow is the deadline to turn in questions for the Polk County Chamber of Commerce’s candidate forum being broadcast online for the County Commission District 2 special election.

The forum will be broadcast live on the Chamber’s Facebook page (along with here on Polk.Today) and provide the opportunity for the public to watch the candidates talk about issues during together at the Polk County Board of Commissioners meeting room. Note: This event is not open to the public due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

If you’d like to submit a question, please e-mail info@polkgeorgia.com before 5 p.m. on Wednesday (the final deadline) to have them considered for the District 2 candidates to answer. Repeated questions from different sources will be consolidated to accommodate those seeking the same information.

Voters in November have a choice between five candidates for office: current commissioner Linda Liles running to retain her seat, Jody Bentley Smith, Glenn Robinson, Ricky Clark and Chris Roberson.

The District 2 special election will seek to fill the remaining time after December 2020 concludes the appointment allowed for Liles for the rest of the year. She’s seeking to retain the seat after the Commission voted to let her serve out the year this past spring following the resignation of former Commission Chair Jennifer Hulsey.

As in years past, questions that went unanswered from the forum will be sent out to candidates for written responses that will be posted online once they are received back.
