Come out and take part in a positive way to show your support for Sgt. Barry Henderson and his family on Tuesday in Cedartown with a blood drive planned for the day at the Polk County Police Department headquarters.

The upcoming blood drive is being held on Tuesday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PCPD headquarters at 73 Cline Ingram Jackson Drive, Cedartown in conjunction with Blood Assurance.

PCPD Officer Andy Anderson is helping to organize the drive coming up, as he has done with past blood drives over the past several years to help Blood Assurance with their supply.

Those who want to participate can make an appointment ahead of time at bloodassurance.org or by calling 1-800-962-0628.

Make sure to save time ahead of donating blood by answering a series of health history questions before arriving. Download the BA QuickScreen app on your mobile device to fill out the questionnaire.

Donors will receive a t-shirt for their participation, and anyone who gives twice this year is entered to win a side-by-side all terrain vehicle.

Please remember to eat a good meal, drink additional water and avoid energy drinks before giving.

The drive was originally organized prior to his death on March 9 in hopes that donations made in his honor would help those like him fighting for their lives against COVID-19 and additional problems caused by the virus. After more than 50 days on a ventilator, Henderson lost his battle with the virus on March 9.
