Redesign up and running for City of Rockmart’s website

After just a couple of months of work, the City of Rockmart’s website is serving the public with a whole new redesign completed by staff in-house.

The new website launched in recent days updates the design of the city’s previous version at rockmart-ga.gov. It now features easier access to calendar items, news, spotlight information and links to important items for customers like online payments and documents usually accessed by a visit to city hall.

Holly Langley, the city’s Licensing and Permitting Clerk, spearheaded the redesign efforts for the website without additional cost to the city in the process. The work was completed largely due to response to city facilities shutting down during the COVID-19 pandemic, and comments from the public on the old design.

“We’re working to be more proactive in our media presence online,” she said. “So we decided to revamp everything and make it easier for citizens to access information and billing that they need on a daily basis without having to dig through the website.”

Langley said the redesign work was completed over the past couple of months, and came at no additional cost to taxpayers.

The new website now includes a whole host of documents that are available to the wider world. People can now access building permits, business licensing information, the city’s code, job postings, submit items to public works that need to be repaired, the library and much more. There’s also a new page about facility rentals, a dedicated page with links for online payments for municipal court, city utilities and additional miscellaneous items like tickets and program participation.

An Frequently Asked Questions page for each department now exists as well, including information about how to handle certain situations that don’t require an immediate call to the police department, like how to get a welfare check or paying citations online, or inquiring about accident reports or background checks.

Information about community events, the area at large and more can be found at rockmart-ga.gov as well.
