Chamber holds ribbon cutting for pumps in morning ceremony
An expansion for local Raceway owner Clint Brock means the opportunity for more business, including that of short and long-haul truckers as new diesel-only lanes officially welcomed to the gas station on Wednesday morning.
The Polk County Chamber of Commerce gathered together contractors, employees at Raceway, and city officials for the morning ribbon cutting ceremony, where Brock explained that as parent company RaceTrac expands further into the diesel business, his Raceway station was included in that plan.
“RaceTrac wanted to expand, their model is to grow in the diesel market. Raceway is the franchise model RaceTrac” he said. “So we were just excited to be one of the stores where they chose to do this. We had the property, we have the diesel flow and the diesel consumers coming in, and it just adds to our business portfolio. This is another offering for all Rockmart customers and our guest coming in.”
Brock, who has owned and operated the station as a franchisee for the past 13 years, said the work included three new pumps for diesel-only service, and also includes a fill-up point for diesel exhaust fluid.
Raceway can now service upward of six semis at one time at the pumps, including the more than a dozen lanes to fill up for consumers.
Normal trucks, vans and cars that are diesel-based will be able to use the new lanes as well, Brock said.

Brock has also been giving back to the community – specifically athletes at Rockmart High – through his Pump 18 initiative. The portion of each sale at that pump is designated to go to RHS Athletics, and over the past 8 years the sales on that pump have raised more than $25,000.
Including the pumps for normal gasoline, the overall total of fueling points now increases to 23 at Raceway in Rockmart.
