PSD moving Distance Learning meetings to a single session online

Polk School District’s original plan to have parents meet in-person to an online meeting, per Superintendent Laurie Atkins.

She reported that a number of parents requested not to gather in a large group to discuss the requirements for students to utilize distance learning for the first semester of the 2020-21 Academic Year for PSD.

Instead of the meetings at Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools that were planned for the week, parents will instead be able to take part in a GoTo meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, July 21) at 5:30 p.m.

Atkins said the meeting will be recorded and available on the District website for any parent who is unable to join the district’s distance learning information session on GoTo meeting.

Parents who wanted to keep their children home during the first half of the school year amid the COVID-19 crisis had until this past Friday, July 17, to turn in applications for youth to take part in distance learning online.

Numbers of students who are participating in Distance Learning this year are still being compiled, Atkins reported.
