The Polk School District took time out during the April combined session to show their appreciation for the support staff who helps make schools run smoothly on a daily basis.
The April 2021 MERIT Award winner was Maryann James.
James is secretary at Eastside Elementary. She received a certificate, a gift card and a round of applause from the audience for her service to the district.
MERIT Awards are given out monthly by the district and honoring a different area of the staff within the district, from maintenance to educators, and the nutrition staff to the administration.
