New mentoring program is under development from CHS grad returning home
A Cedartown Lady Bulldog alum who went off to Kennesaw State and previous Lady Bulldog athlete is looking to give back to the community in a number of positive ways.
After returning home from Kennesaw State University and now working on her Master’s in Business Administration, Teyana Pryor is intent on also coming full circle in a journey that began for her several years ago. She said support from a mentoring program has now inspired her to form her own organization.
Pryor to Success has several goals short and long term, but for now her first focus is getting organized and outreach to youth in need.
Pryor also wants to provide scholarships for seniors in the Class of 2023, but the biggest immediate goal is to gather a group of women from across various fields of employment to act as mentors for high school aged young women. Her goal is to also create workshops and community service opportunities for those involved in the program.
“I have been part of mentorship programs, as a mentor and a mentee. I certainly do know the benefits that it has given me at my very young age of 24,” Pryor said. “I have been setup for numerous opportunities due to mentoring, so I certainly do want to bring this endeavor to Cedartown.”
Additional future goals are to expand the program to include young men and to develop a community center for the program to have as a home base and provide services to the community as a whole as well. She also wants to expand into other cities around the area, and ultimately make her program into a nationally-recognized program.
She’s working on gaining non-profit status, but she does have partners already in the community willing to lend their support and the full support of the Cedartown City Commission for an event coming up on July 16 at the Goodyear Park Soccer Complex just off West Avenue that dead ends on Prior Street. The only entry fee she’s asking is a donation of school supplies to give away to students after.
The event is scheduled from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., (See the flyer for more details.)

“I want to setup games, vendors, a check-up table for people to donate school supplies,” she said. “I want people to come out, have a little fun, and get involved in a little community service by giving back to our local schools.”
Those who want to take part can reach out to Pryor via Facebook.
