Pressley Wade “Buster” Akins

Pressley Wade “Buster” Akins, age 62, of Rockmart GA, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, March 5, 2024.

Buster was born in Powder Springs, GA, on September 7, 1961, son of the former Annie Hames and the late Mackie Eugene Akins.

He had been a resident of Rockmart since 1975 and was employed with Toyo Tire Company of Cartersville, GA.

Buster loved working and enjoyed riding motorcycles, riding in his boat and messing with his dog. He was always working with wood and building things. Buster loved packing up and going camping and cherished the time he got to spend with family and grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Buster was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Nina Fennell.

Buster is survived by his wife, Susan Fennell Akins, whom he married September 23, 2000; four children, Misty (Jack) Pope, Kenneth (Halie) Akins, Andrea Crews, and Heather Graham; twelve grandchildren, Taylor, Kinsley, Kolbi, Peyton, Tatum, Ledger, Avery, Haybo, Emmaley, Jaylee, Tay-Tay, and Zayd; mother, Annie Ledbetter (Ed Streetman); brothers, John (Maureen) Akins, and Clyde (Diane) Akins. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Buster will be held on Friday afternoon, March 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Springdale Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Streetman and Bro. Ed Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in Springdale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Buster’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday evening, March 7, 2024, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Haybo Gibson, Payton Pope, Jamie Crews, Alex Akins, Patrick Akins, and Larry Fennell.
